The One I Run To

The One I Run To

Before coming to the New Life Dream Center, my life was in total disarray. At 14 years old I started to smoke cigarettes and marijuana. Then at 15 I was introduced to cocaine. From that time on I used everyday. I quit school and spent my days hanging out with friends and getting high.

Then at 18 years old I got pregnant and stopped everything. Soon after I had her though, I started using marijuana and cigarettes. A year later I was back to using cocaine everyday. I tried to maintain being a mother and an addict for years. I had several arrests during this time but always seemed to get out of it with my families help.

Drugs had such a hold on my life that I thought they were my only way of escape. I started using crack cocaine. During this time I was arrested several times and was constantly running from my family and myself.

However when my daughter was three I was reported to department of children and families for neglect. My drug use only increased and my life got worse. I couldn’t pass drug tests and I had to give custody to my Mother. When that happened, it was the first time my family couldn’t get me out of it. They told me they weren’t helping me until I got my life together. I couldn’t run anymore.

My love for my daughter and my family forced me to look at myself and admit for the first time I needed help — a help that my parents nor anything that this world could give me. Through the grace of God, I found The New Life Dream Centers.

I went there and immediately found the freedom I looked for in so many things. I now had a personal relationship with God. I now know that He is my help and the One to run to in any situation.  I again had full custody of my daughter before even completing the program and the relationship with my family was restored even better than it was before.

I have worked in ministry [at the time of this writing] since I completed the program and will continue to for the rest of my life. I owe God everything that I am for all the things He has done for me. I couldn’t imagine living any other way.

I recently got married to a wonderful man of God who is an amazing husband and father. We are expecting a son in August and life couldn’t be better. Since giving my life to Jesus, all things have been made whole in my life and it’s truly better than I could have ever hoped or imagined.

Romans 6:17-18: “But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”
